well, I scheduled one vacation for August…and no one else at work is taking any time off around July 4th weekend.  I’ll plan on flyin..somewhere… and sleeping somewhere, too.

Probably only be there for 2 days and fly home.  I still remember 1996 when I had to drive home the day there was a reunion…someone planned poorly (I also had like 27 cents in my pocket when I got home).  Better planning for the win!

OK, so there was a problem in allowing any registrations as it would never actually email out a password.  If you attempted to get a new password, you’d see a message about mail() failure.  Woopsie.

So I went and did some reading and the issue is now fixed.  Anyone can register for an account, and if I know you’re of the Shannon family tree I’ll add your Editor permissions to create posts and pages.

I’ve also added some personal finance links into the side bar. I read these sites, and I ponder personal finance. I think it’s something we should all be concerned with as it impacts our daily life and decision making. Myself, I am saving more than ever before, but still feel I should save more.

Well, I have a category for Colorado.  I’m in Colorado.  I guess I should write something.  Maybe I’ll make a category for Floriday and Tennessee.  Get the Pope to write something…

Not much goings on. At least I got my taxes taken care of very early this year, and already have the returns in.  Paying off the lasik eye surgery I had in 2006.  No sense leaving it out there, even though it’s 0% until August this year.

I went and looked at getting a newer vehicle…a 2003 Dodge Durango which would replace my 1997 Dodge Dakota.  360, AWD, Leather, 3 row seating.  The space in the back seats just isn’t enough.  I would have expected more room, so, the Durango is out of the picture for now.  Maybe they’ll do a new design in a year or two that I like again.  The 04-current generation of Dodge’s just don’t look as good as the 97-03 model years to me.  Ohwell….saved $14,000 🙂

I’m still looking for other 1990-93 Honda Accords to “flip”.  Buy them broken and inexpensive, spend a few weekends on them, make them run and freshen up the engine/trannie and sell them.  They have great resale value when running well.  And, it’s a nice hobby.  Learn a lot about general car care and maintenance.

It’s a nice 3 day weekend..I think I’ll take a hint from the dogs and go nap now 🙂

I hear there’s a family reunion planned around July 4th time frame again! Planned to be in Hookstown.

Well, I’ve been looking for something for the FamilyShannon.com website, and all the content management systems just seemed to offer more than I wanted to deal with.

I’ve decided a fairly simple blog type approach is best. Why not? What do we need? Comments about what’s going on…daily entries? I don’t even think many in the family are using it..but this allows adding in mulitple editors and what not. Perfect.

For now…there’s a family reunion planned around July 4, 2008 in Hookstown. Personally, I won’t be able to attend as I took off 2 weeks last year around that time and cannot get it again.
